37 He brought out Isr’el, strong and bold,
with Egypt’s silver and their gold.
38 How glad was Egypt when they left,
for dread for Isr’el on them fell.
39 God covered them with cloud by day,
his fire by night to guide their way.
40 They asked, and he brought quail for them;
he gave them ample bread from heav’n.
41 He split the rock and water gushed,
like streams through desert land it rushed.
42 For he recalled his holy word,
he swore to Abrah’m long before.
43 He brought them out with songs of joy,
44 and gave them lands where others toiled,
45 that they might keep his holy word
and heed his statutes. Praise the LORD!
