1 My trust is in the LORD;
how can you say to me:
“Now like a bird make your escape,
and to your mountain flee!
2 The wicked bend their bows
with arrow fixed for flight,
prepared to shoot the righteous ones
from shadows of the night.
3 What can the righteous do
when their foundations fall?
If what is firm has turned to dust,
will anything avail?
4 The everlasting LORD
is seated on his throne;
he sees what happens ev’rywhere,
observing everyone.
5 Righteous and wicked he tries;
the violent are scorned.
6 The LORD rains down sulfur and fire;
they in his wrath are burned.
7 For righteous is the LORD,
completely just and fair;
the upright will behold his face
and all his glory share.
