Psalm 119:49-56

Eisenach L.M. (Johann Hermann Schein, 1586-1630); harm. Johann Sebastian Bach, 1685-1750)

49 Recall your word to me, O LORD,
with which you’ve kept my hope alive.
50 This is my comfort in distress;
because your promises revive.

51 The arrogant deride and scorn;
your law is in my heart enshrined.
52 Your ancient precepts I recall;
in them I shall my comfort find.

53 I’m struck with horror to behold
as wicked ones your law forsake,
54 the statutes that have been my songs
along the pilgrimage I make.

55 LORD, I recall your name at night
and how I’ll keep your law each day.
56 This constant blessing falls on me
all your great precepts to obey.
