Psalm 12

Donne secours (Genevan 12th) 11.10.11.10. (Louis Bourgeois 1510-1561)

1 Help, LORD, for those who love your truth have vanished.
2 Is anyone trustworthy far or near?
3 It seems that all speak lies and flatter neighbors.
No one these days is honest or sincere.

3 Do not deal gently with such lying people.
Destroy all those who boast and have no shame,
whose bragging lips reflect a heart of evil.
4 “No one can stop our speech,” these liars claim.

5 God knows the poor have been oppressed and ruined.
God knows the needy groan and gives them care:
“Now I will grant the safety that they long for.”
Our God will hear and answer every prayer.

6 The words of promise which the Lord has spoken
as pure as silver which by fire is tried,
Like silver which, when molten in a furnace,
from it emerges sev’n times purified.

7 O LORD, you will preserve your people always,
and from this evil age keep us secure;
8 on ev’ry side the wicked strut and swagger,
as people honor all that is impure.
