Psalm 149

Laudate Dominum 10.10.11.11. (Charles Hubert Hastings Parry, 1848-1918)

1 Sing praise to the Lord! Prepare your glad voice,
new songs with his saints assembled to sing;
2 before their Creator let Israel rejoice,
and children of Zion be glad in their King.

3 And let them his name extol in the dance;
with timbrel and harp his praises express;
4 who always takes pleasure his saints to advance,
and with his salvation the humble to bless.

5 His saints shall sing loud with glory and joy,
and rest undismayed; with songs in the night
6 the praise of Jehovah their lips shall employ;
a sword in their right hand two-edged for the fight;

7 The nations to judge, their pride to consume,
8 to fetter their kings, their princes to bind;
9 to execute on them the long-decreed doom;
such honor for ever the holy shall find.
