Psalm 17A

Mynydd Du S.M. (John Ellis, 1931-)

1 LORD, hear my righteous plea
and listen to my cry;
It does not rise deceitfully
or come from lips that lie.

2 Declare me innocent
and vindicate my name;
LORD, may your eye see what is right
and free me from all blame.

3 At night you test my heart,
but nothing you will find.
4 Your word has taught me to avoid
those with violent minds.

5 My feet follow your ways;
6 O hear my earnest plea!
7 Display your steadfast love and save
all those who refuge seek.

8 The shadow of your wings
hides me in times of strife;
and as the apple of your eye
preserves and guards my life.

9 Hide me from ruthless foes
10 whose boastful words abound.
11They track me down and lie in wait
to cast me to the ground.

The psalm continues with Psalm 17B.
