Psalm 17B

Franconia S.M. (Johann Balthasar König, 1691-1758; adapted William Henry Havergal, 1783-1870)

12 Like lions stalking prey,
they lurk and go unheard.
13 Arise, confront my foes, O LORD,
and free me by your sword.

14 O save me by your hand
from all such people, LORD,
from mortals whose only portion
in life is in this world.

Their lives are stuffed with things;
their young are satisfied.
They leave their children all the wealth
which they have set aside.

15 But I, in righteousness
your face will surely see;
when waking to your likeness, LORD,
most satisfied I’ll be.
