Psalm 94

Blaenhafren 8.7.8.7.D. (Welsh)

1 Mighty LORD, the God of vengeance,
God of vengeance, now shine forth!
2 Rise up, LORD, the judge of nations;
give the proud what they deserve.
3 LORD, how long will the wicked,
how long will the wicked gloat?
4 Arrogant the words they spew forth,
evil deeds are what they boast.

5 They, O LORD, have crushed your people;
and your heritage oppress;
6 they kill foreigner and widow,
and have slain the fatherless.
7 They say, “The LORD does not notice;
Jacob’s God has closed his eyes.”
8 Understand, you foolish people!
When, O fools, will you be wise?

9 Does he who made the ear not hear?
Does he who made eyes not see?
10 Does he who warns nations not strike?
Does he who teaches not see?
All our human thoughts are futile;
to you, LORD, they are well known.
12 Your correction is a blessing
to those to whom your law’s shown. SP

13 Give them rest from days of trouble,
‘til they dig the wicked’s grave.
14 For the LORD stays with his people;
his own he will not forsake.
15 Righteous judgments will be rendered,
justice will again return.
Those of upright heart will follow
and the way of justice learn.

16 Who will rise for my deliv’rance,
stand for me against the foe?
17 If the LORD were not my helper,
soon my soul would silence know.
18 If I say, “My foot is slipping!”
LORD, your mercy will uphold.
19 When my heart is filled with burdens,
how your comforts cheer my soul!

20 Can the corrupt be on your side
when they injustice decree?
21 They conspire against the righteous,
and condemn those not guilty.
22 But the LORD remains my fortress,
my rock, invincible and strong.
23 He will repay them for their sins;
and punish all who do wrong.
